Nothing to disconcert you quite like standing in the middle of a room (I lack furniture at the moment), reading a magazine, and noticing a spider walking across the paragraph you'd just finished.

A cute little jumping spider, granted. But the only thing connecting the magazine to the floor was me.

It may have dropped from the ceiling. I've had that happen before.

Possibly, but jumping spiders don't normally do that. They're quite careful about falling, and only very rarely use silk strands as guywires.

I do like jumping spiders. I was just not expecting to have one come hiking from the backside of the magazine and across the page.
