sea kayaking
Aug. 10th, 2003 01:32 pmVery very fun.
The kayaks were bigger than the ones I've seen for rivers, very stable and rather comfy. And they had rudders! What could be better than kayaks with rudders?
And we saw seals, and bald eagles, and assorted waterfowl. And huge purple starfish through 3-5 feet of water, which managed to elude my sister despite being rather slow moving.
And raindrops into ocean, and wind-ripples and the calm in the lee of the kayak and the larger waves lapping over the top, and docks steaming as the sun came out. Pausing in a forest of bull kelp to watch the seals watching us.
And after coming home, falling asleep to the memory-feel of the gentle rocking, and half-expecting the soft slap of waves against the side.
