no longer auto-enabled, nor free on the open road

Years ago, I got a car. Not a very fancy car, but it ran and that was the important thing.

Periodically, it would stop running in interesting ways. I learned quite a bit about how cars can fail to work.

It got a bit battered over time, thanks to anonymous 'helpers' who bashed in the side panels and broke the mirror and antenna, and due to the ravages of time.

But then, it had to pass an emissions test.

It was a boat, built for cruising. It had never been the scholastic type. Or particularly environmentally conscious.

It failed. Badly. Even remedial classes wouldn't help it.

It has gone to be somewhere else now.
